The regulatory function is vital in making safe and effective healthcare products available worldwide. Individuals who ensure regulatory compliance and prepare submissions, as well as those whose main job function is clinical affairs or quality assurance are all considered regulatory professionals.
Resources, news and special offers to support you and your professional development during this difficult time.
One of our most valuable contributions to the profession is the Regulatory Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics provides regulatory professionals with core values that hold them to the highest standards of professional conduct.

The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.
RAPS is closely monitoring developments in the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. See our public safety page for the latest updates.

To take the exam online, complete the registration for either the Autumn 2020 or Spring 2021 RAC exams as you would to take the exam in person. Prior to your registered exam window, you will receive an invitation to schedule your exam from Scantron, at which point you may choose to take it online or in person.
How does online testing work?
The online RAC exams will be securely administered using Scantron’s proprietary software, PASS, and monitored with Examity’s live online proctoring. With proctors all over the globe, online testing allows candidates to take the exam from their own computer and on their own schedule. Testing sessions are offered 24/7 and based on availability; the RAC program partners at Scantron and Examity do their best to accommodate all scheduling requests.
To take the RAC exam online, candidates will need a functional web camera, microphone and speakers so that they can communicate with the proctor in addition to some technical internet connection requirements.
If you are considering taking the RAC exam online, we strongly recommend you review the technical specifications and complete a basic system check by visiting the Examity system check:

Important note: www.scantronassessment.com should be made a trusted site on all computers used for testing. A trusted site is a Web site that you trust not to damage your computer.
With the current COVID-19 pandemic, testing centers and candidates have seen restrictions on travel and opening availability, making exams very difficult to schedule. To allow candidates more flexibility the RAC Board has agreed to allow candidates the option to take the exam from their own laptop to get around these current restrictions. Candidates can choose to take the exam online with live online proctoring or at a testing center (subject to availability).
No. The costs to take the tests are the same whichever method of testing is used.
Online RAC exams are being offered as a pilot program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The autumn 2020 and spring 2021 exam windows will offer candidates the option to take the RAC exams online or at a testing center. At the end of the spring 2021 exam window, the RAC Board will make a decision about whether or not online testing will be offered for future exam windows.
The RAC Board will review the outcomes from the summer exam window to assess the effectiveness of live online proctoring as a testing method. They will then decide whether or not to use live online proctoring in the autumn of 2020.
Both online testing and onsite testing options have their advantages and the decision about which is right for you likely comes down to individual circumstance. A testing center maybe a better option for candidates who have limited or unreliable internet access, or who do not have access to a quiet undisturbed room for the duration of the exam. Online testing with live online proctoring might be a better option for someone who does not live close to a testing center or who would like to take the exam at a time when local testing centers may not be open or available.
LOP stands for ‘Live Online Proctoring’ and refers to a form of test administration that allows candidates to complete their examinations from their own computers via an internet connection at a time and place of their choosing. Testing sessions are available 24/7/365, based on seating availability.
Great news – you don’t need to decide right now. In fact, you do not have to choose until it comes time to schedule your exam.
You can schedule your exam as soon as you receive your 'notice to schedule' email from Scantron (which is sent to all candidates approximately 10 to 14 days before the start of the exam window). When you log into the scantron scheduling portal, you will be asked to select your preferred method testing in addition to the date, time and location (if applicable) *
*Note – both live online proctoring and testing center availability are subject to availability. The RAC program recommends candidates schedule their exams as soon as possible in order to ensure the best selection of times, dates and locations.
In order to take the RAC exam online with live online proctoring, the candidate’s computer must have webcam capability as well as a microphone and speakers, and the environment should be quiet to avoid distractions and to ensure that the online proctor can hear everything at the candidate’s location. There are technical requirements, such as an adequate internet connection, to ensure that the proctor can access the candidate’s computer and that the session can proceed without internet disruption. Candidates are informed of the computer specifications in advance of the testing session. You can complete a basic system check here:
Whether you take the exam at a testing site, or use LOP, the exam will look the same on the computer you use. No. Please see the On Exam Day page for a list of rules pertaining to live online proctored exams.
Your proctor will be available throughout the exam to explain and help with any technical issues that occur during your exam. Should connectivity be an issue you will also be provided with telephone and email contact resources to guide you.
A live proctor will monitor the entirety of the exam, from ID authentication through the end of the exam. The online proctor will check for any suspicious activity and can end the exam at point if candidate activity warrants. All candidates will complete attestations stating that they understand the rules for testing at the beginning of the exam.
The process for onsite center testing and online testing are largely similar. However, there are a few minor differences. Please see the RAC Candidate Guides for a full list of all live online proctored testing rules.
Scantron charges a $50 transfer fee to reschedule an exam after you have confirmed your date, time, and test administration method.
